Thomas Sykora

Thomas Sykora ( born May 18, 1968 in Tulln ) is a former Austrian alpine skier.

Career

Thomas Sykora comes from an athletic family. His father Ernst Sykora was head of the Hochkar Schulskiheimes. His aunts Liese Prokop and Maria Sykora were successful track and field athletes.

Sykora was the Slalom World Cup 1996/97 and 1997/98 to decide for themselves. Overall, he won nine World Cup races. At the Olympic Games in Nagano in 1998 he won the bronze medal in the slalom. 1996 and 1999, he was also an Austrian slalom champion.

After he was forced because of numerous knee injuries, to end his career, was Thomas Sykora ORF co-commentator. He began to comment on the women's race in 2000, ( Schladming Kitzbuhel, ) was later used at major Mr. slaloms. He drives in most races he commented, with the helmet camera to present closer to the audience the different routes and their difficulties.

He was also president of the football club FC Harreither Waidhofen / Ybbs (Regional East).
