Thomas von Westen

Thomas West ( * September 13, 1682 in Trondheim, † April 9, 1727 ibid ) was head of the sperm or Lapland mission.

Life

Thomas West was originally a lecturer. 1716 he was appointed by Frederick IV of Denmark to the head of the sperm or Lapland mission. At the Trondheim Cathedral School, he formed teachers and catechists from as missionaries for the seeds. From the West made ​​three extended trips to Lapland and studied this country and its people.
