Thomas Wilson (Minnesota)

Thomas Wilson ( born May 16, 1827 in Dungannon, Ireland, † April 3, 1910 in St. Paul, Minnesota ) was an American politician.

Wilson immigrated in 1839 with his parents to the United States, where the family settled in Venango County in Pennsylvania. He attended Allegheny College in Meadville and studied law. In February 1855 he was admitted to the legal profession and practiced law in Winona in Minnesota Territory. 1857 Wilson was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Minnesota (Minnesota constitutional convention). From 1880 to 1882 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Minnesota, and subsequently from 1882 to 1885 the Minnesota Senate. After Wilson was elected as a Democrat to Congress and represented there on 4 March 1887 to 3 March 1889, Minnesota House of Representatives of the United States. He managed not to be re-elected. His candidacy for the governorship in 1890 was unsuccessful. 1892 Wilson was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. After that he worked until his death as General Counsel for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railroad. He died in 1910 in St. Paul, and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.
