Thomas Wolter

Thomas Wolter ( born October 4, 1963 in Hamburg) is a former football player and current coach.

Playing career

Association

In the youth of TuS Ottensen the career of Thomas Wolter began. He joined in 1979 HEBC Hamburg before moving to SV Werder Bremen in 1984. Trained as an insurance salesman Wolter played in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen fourteen years. He completed 312 games and scored 12 goals for the Norddeutschen.1984/85 he belonged to the senior squad for the first time the Bremen. However, with Günter Hermann, Norbert Meier, Benno Möhlmann and Wolfgang Sidka was the competition in midfield for the then young players still very large. In his first year as a pro Wolter therefore came only three bets. His debut was the defensive player on 24 November 1984 against Eintracht Braunschweig. In the 4-1 win, he came on in the 82nd minute for Uwe Reinders.

The success in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1991/92 under coach Otto Rehhagel in the final on 6 May 1992 in Lisbon stands out for his successes with the SV Werder against, coached by Arsene Wenger AS Monaco.

National

For the German national football team Wolter played an international match. For the friendly against Brazil on 16 December 1992, the defensive player was in the starting lineup of the DFB. For 59 minutes he was substituted against Michael Zorc.

Coaching career

He holds a license as a football coach of the DFB and as such since 1998, worked at Werder Bremen. In 1998 he began there as an assistant coach of the reserve team, was then from 2000 to 2002 responsible for the U18/U19 and trained since 2002 currently (as of August 2012) playing in the Regionalliga Nord Second team of the club. The relevant contract he extended in March 2012 to the year 2015.
