Thorhild Widvey

Thorhild Widvey ( born January 9, 1956 in Avaldsnes, Rogaland ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre. Since 16 October 2013, it belongs as Minister of Culture in the government Solberg.

She was a member of the Norwegian Parliament from 1987 to 1997, elected in Rogaland. Your start in politics occurred at the same time and in close connection to Erna Solberg. In 1992, she became vice - chairman of the Norwegian European Movement. After she retired from active politics in 1997, she moved with her husband Osvald Bjelland and her two children to London. In 2002 she returned to Norway, and Widvey was State Secretary in the Fisheries, 2003 Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was oil and energy minister in the cabinet of Kjell Magne Bondevik 2004-2005.
