Thorne (South Yorkshire)

Thorne is a small town in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster the English county of South Yorkshire and owned according to the census in 2001 a total of 16,592 inhabitants.

Traffic

Thorne is an important hub both road and rail traffic. Here branches off the M180 from the M18 eastbound towards Scunthorpe and Grimsby from. Ten kilometers to the north at Goole leads the M18 in the M62 ( Liverpool Kingston upon Hull). To the southwest it via Doncaster to Sheffield, where there are connections to the M1 (London- Leeds ).

In Thorne, the South TransPennine route branches off from the railway Sheffield -Hull. There are direct trains to Manchester, Hull and Grimsby ( - Cleethorpes ). The nearest airports are Doncaster / Sheffield (12 km), the Humberside Airport (40 km ) and Manchester Airport (120 km). The latter can also be reached by train.
