Thorsten Kirschbaum ( born April 20, 1987 in Würzburg ) is a German football goalkeeper. He's since the 2013/14 season at VfB Stuttgart under contract.

Career

Clubs

Cherry began his career with TSV Obernzenn. From 1999 to 2004 he played for the 1st FC Nuremberg. For the season 2004 /05 he moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, where he belonged to the senior squad in 2006. In the 2006/07 season he played there as a goalkeeper, the first eight missions in the Regionalliga Süd. After an injury of the elbow he was replaced by Daniel Haas and could not win back his starting place. Overall, he played nine Regional Games. On 16 December 2007, he made ​​his debut in the Bundesliga 2, when he came off the bench in the match against Greuther Fuerth at halftime for the injured Daniel Haas. In January 2009 he moved to FC Vaduz. After the club relegated from the first Swiss league, Cherry decided to terminate the contract. He was out of contract with effect from 1 July 2009. During the summer break, since no other club wanted to sign him, the goalkeeper held at Bayern division club SpVgg Ansbach 09 fit. In October 2009, Cherry was hired by the SV Sandhausen, where he worked in the 3rd Liga, the original number one Michael Gurski replaced in the 18th game day. For the 2010/11 season Cherry joined as the new number one for second division side Energie Cottbus, where he signed a three-year contract.

On March 10, 2013 Cherry signed a three -year contract with VfB Stuttgart, which entered into force for the 2013/14 season.

National

Cherry came from 2007 to 2008 to seven missions in the German U-21 national team. He made his debut on 6 February 2007 against Scotland, when he came off the bench for the second half for Manuel Neuer.
