Thouarcé is a commune in the department of Maine -et -Loire in the Pays de la Loire. It is capital of the canton Thouarcé.

Geography

1863 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) live in the 18.74 km ² large municipality, which lies at an altitude of 74 meters. Thouarcé is located about 25 kilometers south of Angers and about 30 kilometers west of Saumur, on the river Layon.

Viniculture

Thouarcé is home to one of the great dessert wines of the Loire wine region: the Bonnezeaux. However, certain wines can be declared as Chaume.
