Thought Field Therapy

Thought Field Therapy (TFT ) is a complementary medical therapies by the American psychotherapist Roger J. Callahan. Callahan is considered the founder of Energy Psychology. Thought Field Therapy is counted just like the " development " Evolving Thought Field Therapy ( EvTFT ) to the method of " energy medicine" that are neither well understood nor embedded in the "conventional medicine", however, in the use of aspects of the meridian Acupuncture same.

History

The late 1970s, Callahan began elements of clinical psychology, traditional Chinese medicine and kinesiology put together and called the Thought Field Therapy TFT method ( Thought Field Therapy ).

From Thought Field Therapy developed since the 1980s, several variants of Energy Psychology, the treatment processes differ more or less from Callahan's approach.

Methodology

The Thought Field Therapy is, according to their representatives a rapid-acting, process-oriented brief therapy method applied to the body or of a supposed " physical energy system ". The TFT method is sometimes referred to as psychological acupuncture.

According to its representatives are in the thought field therapy to provide a comprehensive and complex psychotherapy approach.

After preliminary diagnostic methods of clinical psychology and applied kinesiology mental or physical ailments are focused mentally and emotionally. At the same so-called meridian points are stimulated with the fingers through caressing, massaging or tapping. This is intended -, according to the TFT - user - the energy system of the body are brought into balance, which should cause a " deletion " of complaints.

Roger J. Callahan also coined the term " psychological reversal " ( psychological reversal ), which stands as an umbrella term and explanation for various energy - related psychological blockages and so-called resistors that in his theory impede the progress of treatment or even prevent. In the approach Fred P. Gallo, however, this can be bypassed by a change of the logic level and retesting, possibly new aspects of the problem must be considered and treated separately. As a test of the existence of any obstacles functions here a simple muscle test.

As he acknowledged these resistors a very large value, Callahan developed to treat them several correction methods, such as the "Pi - correction " and the so-called collarbone breathing technique ( German: clavicular breathing).

Criticism

Preliminary studies on the effectiveness of TFT, TAT and EFT give indications of potential efficacy, but the available studies do not meet the scientific standards. The methods are applicable due to their roots in scientific unused ideas of traditional Chinese medicine and kinesiology largely esoteric and are used by the scientific community hardly true and serious.

Since effectiveness of TFT as well as the existence of the meridian system and not occupied by acupuncture points, the TFT as their related methods, acupuncture and applied kinesiology be classified as pseudoscience.
