Through Train

By binding, also called composite or circulation line change, refers to a range of urban, sometimes over long distances (for example, hedge Neil trains). Here, the trips do not end at the intended final stop of a bus or train, but there will be continued on a subsequent line, that is " bound by ". This second line can also belong to another transport mode. For passengers, there is the advantage that they can continue without change, and for the transport company that this mostly a vehicle can be saved (shorter turnaround and service times ); also omitted in the railway traffic at the link shunting stations to provide trains.

Examples

Regional Transport

Many Regionalzuglinien (RE, IRE) regularly link several rail lines to a longer route, for example, the Ems - Leash Express (Braunschweig -Hannover- Minden- wages - Rheine ), the Franken- Sachsen- Express ( Nuremberg -Bayreuth -Hof -Zwickau -Dresden ) and the Schleswig -Holstein -Express ( Hamburg- Neumünster - Flensburg- Padborg ). Since the responsibility for local transport in Germany is divided regionally have such bonds by an increased administrative burden, even if only one intra- German authority limit is exceeded.

Stadtbahn Karlsruhe

The tram line in Karlsruhe combines urban tramway lines with railway lines in the surrounding areas. The trainsets used cope with two current systems and fulfill the operational requirements of both the tram and the railways. This technique, known as the Karlsruhe model or tram-train system served as a model for urban rail networks in Germany and other countries.

City-Bahn Chemnitz

A variant of the Karlsruhe model is the Chemnitz model, in which a particularly low platform altitude and low floor vehicles is different from the Railway Construction and Operating Rules for use. Then, however, no regular railway vehicles longer hold to the lowered platforms.

Tramway in Halle ( Saale)

Line 9 runs from Neustadt on a southern route via Franckeplatz to Central Station. Without changing direction it moves as a line 10 to a large bow on a northern route through the stone gate and marketplace back to Neustadt. A majority of the rides the line 7 leads from the terminus Kröllwitz on a different route back to the city, during the day as line 4, in the evening as a line 94 in the opposite direction, the line numbers change accordingly reversed.

Metro networks in Japan

10 of the 13 metro lines in Tokyo are connected to suburban and regional lines of surrounding land. Trains of the two subway operators go to change trains on the lines of cooperating railway companies continue vice versa are also railcars of cooperating railway companies on the road sections of the U -Bahn to use. To a lesser extent there are such umsteigefreien Through ties with the surrounding areas in the underground networks of Fukuoka, Kobe, Kyoto, Nagoya and Osaka.

International train

In the long-distance transport, especially cross-border train movements can be called through bonds. Particularly well known is the Orient Express, which existed in name from 1883 to 2009 and initially joined Paris with Konstantin Opel, but was later supplemented with various alignments and coaches system and finally reversed only from Strasbourg to Vienna. There were many other international express and night trains.

Another milestone were compounds of the types of trains Trans - Europ - Express from 1957 and Euro City since 1987. Today, many national and international Zugmarken as the ICE, TGV, Thalys and Euros Star regularly on cross- border routes.

Other variants of the umsteigefreien connection

When outflanking train parts go on a track first together and divided on a route station. The individual sections may continue on different routes, or the journey is continued only with one of the train parts.

A course car can be sequentially coupled to a plurality of regular trains. Thus, transfer-free, individual running paths are possible over long distances. However, the time and effort for this variant is relatively high.
