Thrust stage

Under Arena Stage is defined as a stage form of the 20th century, inspired by the ancient arena. Concrete model are sports arenas and circus building as a popular venues. The Arena Stage was built at the beginning of the century in an attempt to overcome the illusory proscenium stage and to bring the audience closer to the actors. In the arena stage, the seats of the spectators are arranged around a central court around, remains mostly the back free. Often the audience is seated on stepped platforms or bleachers. The Arena Stage is distributed as open-air stage. In rooms it is rare firmly mounted, but one of several possible stage forms, a variability that derives from Walter Gropius ' ideal of a " total theater " (1927 ).

Max Reinhardt joined the Arena stage as folk theater and left to the Berlin Circus Renz in 1919 to rebuild the Grand Theatre. Erwin Piscator or Brecht also welcomed the "revolutionary" stage form.
