Band History

Thumb was founded in Gütersloh 1993. 1994 first demos were recorded and signed a recording contract with EMI in March 1995. On September 14, the first album Thumb and the band toured with Bad Religion, Dog Eat Dog, Henry Rollins, Beatsteaks and A Surge published by Germany. On 5 May 1997, the second album Exposure appeared. The ensuing tour led Thumb 1998 Vans Warped Tour in the United States where she completed thirteen appearances in three weeks ago almost 180,000 spectators. The magazine chose Visions exposure at the 100 main boards of the 90 to 57th

After a two year break Thumb band started in spring 2000 with the recordings for the third album. The sudden exit of guitarist Axel Hilgenstöhler middle of the year and the subsequent entry of Axel Pralat as the new guitarist threw the band in the recording process back far. All new songs have been recorded previously discarded.

"It was not a matter that we find a new guitarist who simply fills the gap. We wanted to re-write as a unit right songs. Over the past three years we have tried frantically again and again, but our claims were never really satisfied. "

The published on 21 May 2001 album was called 3 and went straight to number 59 in the German Media Control Charts. After the tour, the album it was quiet around the band and the members are spread out in different directions. Drummer Steffen Wilmking went to the H -Blockx, bassist Jan- Hendrik Meyer to Hudson, singer Claus Grabke to the Alternative Allstars and guitarist Axel Pralat to Waterdown.

Years after the dissolution of the band released in 2005 a final official statement on their website:

"It is not working on new songs, yet on a new album. Everyone goes his own way to and it does not look as if the paths would cross again in the near future. [ ... ] It would unfortunately make no sense to announce a big THUMB Reunion here. "
