Thunder Bay District

The Thunder Bay District is an administrative district in the center of the Canadian province of Ontario. Capital is Thunder Bay. The population is 146 057 (2011), area 103,719.51 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 1.4 inhabitants per km ². The district lies on the northern shore of Lake Superior and in 1871 from the western part of the Algoma District. As a result, individual areas were separated and the newly created districts allotted: Rainy River District in 1885, Kenora District in 1907 and Cochrane District, 1921.
