Thunder Bay Thunder Cats

The Thunder Bay Thunder Cats were a Canadian ice hockey team from Thunder Bay, Ontario. The team played from 1991 to 1999 in the Colonial Hockey League (from 1997 United Hockey League).

History

The team was founded in 1991 under the name Thunder Bay Thunder Hawks franchise as the inaugural Colonial Hockey League. The team won the 1992, 1994 and 1995 the Colonial Cup and stood in the 1995/96 season also in the final, subject to this, however, the Flint Generals. During his eight-year existence, the team was renamed twice (1993 in Thunder Bay, Senator and 1996 in Thunder Bay Thunder Cats ).

Following the 1998/99 season the rights to the franchise from Tri Vision Sports were purchased and the team to Rockford, Illinois, resettled, where it then under the name Rockford IceHogs took part in the match operation of the UHL, as the league was started in 1997.
