Thure Andersson

Thure Andersson (* April 27, 1907 in Ölme, Kristinehamn, Värmland, † January 20, 1976 in Karlstad, Värmland ) was a Swedish wrestler. He won a silver medal in the free style in the welterweight division at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

Life

Thure Andersson was a member of the Club Ringer Orion BK Karlstad. He started as a teenager with rings and worked, as it was then customary in Sweden, at the beginning of his career exclusively in the Greco- Roman style. From 1932 he also dabbled in free style. In 1933, he won the Swedish welterweight champion in Greco- Roman style. 1934 and 1936 he won this title then in free style, back in the welterweight division.

The international career of it began in 1934, when he Vice-European Champion in free style welterweight was in Stockholm. He defeated it Arvi Pihlajamäki from Finland and Karoly Karpati from Hungary and defeated in the final battle against Jean Foeldeak from Germany. In 1935, he was defeated at the Swedish championship against Stig Andersson and therefore did not come at the European Championships for use. In 1936 he was sent but to the Olympic Games in Berlin. He started in free style welterweight and defeated in his first fight Joseph Samec from Czechoslovakia. In his second fight he was defeated by Josef couple from Germany.
