Thurn

Thurn is a municipality in East Tyrol ( Lienz district, Tyrol ) and is located on the gently rising valley floor of the regional capital Lienz, about 2 km from the city center with views of the mountains of the Lienz Dolomites. Thurn has an area of ​​1,226 ha and 620 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). Neighboring municipalities are Ainet, Gaimberg, Lienz, Nussdorf- Debant and Oberlienz. Geography

Thurn is located in the north ( sunny side ) of Lienz north of the regional capital Lienz to 855 m above sea level. A.. The municipal area extends over the southern slope of Pließriegels, an offshoot of the Schober group and comprises 12.26 km ², which Thurn is the third smallest municipality in the district of Lienz. History

1308 Thurn is first mentioned. Coat of arms

The Thurner Coat of Arms was granted to the community on April 19, 1956, the Provincial Government of Tyrol. Demographics
