Thurston County (Nebraska)

Thurston County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Pender, which was named after John Pender, a railroad director.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Nebraska, on the east by the state of Iowa and has an area of 1026 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers is water area. It borders in Nebraska clockwise to the following counties: Dakota County, Burt County, Cuming County and Dixon County.

History

Thurston County was formed in 1865. It was named after U.S. Senator John M. Thurston.
