Deoxythymidine triphosphate ( dTTP ) is one of four blocks of the nucleic acid is DNA. It is composed of a deoxyribose, the thymine base and a triphosphate group.

Biosynthesis

The deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates are synthesized in the cell as an energy- rich compounds of the 2'- deoxyribonucleotide - 5'-monophosphate, by two successive phosphorylation with ATP as the phosphate group donor.

Function

DTTP is a starting material in the synthesis of DNA. With the annexation of the DNA strand is cleaved pyrophosphate. The genetic code of the DNA results from the base sequence of DNA building blocks. Since the base of dTTP is the thymine, coded this module T of this code.
