Tian Pengfei

Tian Pengfei (Chinese田鹏飞; born August 16, 1987 in Dalian shì, Liaoning Province) is a Chinese snooker player.

Career

His biggest success was as a teenager Tian Pengfei at the 2005 IBSF Under-21 World Championship in Bahrain, where he finished second behind compatriot Liang Wenbo. Already in the following season, the International Open Series of amateurs, he had his breakthrough when he won two of the eight tournaments and thus qualified for the main tour Snooker could.

In his first professional tournament he succeeded at the Northern Ireland Trophy of the way into the Round of 32, where he narrowly 4:5 failed to Shaun Murphy. In the Asian Games Tian won two gold medals in doubles with Ding Junhui and the team with style and Wenbo.

In his second season Tian started 69th in the world rankings. But he failed to follow up highlights, mostly he failed in the first qualifying round, which is why he was forced to retire again from the Main Tour after two years.

In the following years he failed to return to the professional circus and Tian was only represented as a wildcard player in the Chinese professional tournaments. There by the Shanghai Masters 2009 he succeeded with a win over Andrew Higginson his second major round feeder. The following year he had his biggest Main Tour success when he was able to defeat at the China Open after a victory in the Wildcard round about Mark Davis in the first round of the main world ranking third parties Ronnie O'Sullivan. With the victory in July 2010 at the International BTV in Beijing, he triumphed for the first time at an invitational event featuring prominent professional involvement. He suggested, among others, Stephen Hendry, Stephen Maguire and Ryan Day in the finals. In November of that year he defended at the Asian Games the team title with Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo.

In the snooker season 2010/11 he came out in the open for amateurs Players Tour Championship only once on the first round. At the China Open, he benefited from a problem of his opponent Jimmy White with the entry visa so that he entered the third year in a row as a wildcard player in the main round of a world ranking tournament. At the end of the season, he qualified on the second Q School tournament again for the Snooker Main Tour.
