Tibetan Youth Congress

The Tibetan Youth Congress ( TYC ) is an international non-governmental organization that advocates complete independence of Tibet. The TYC was founded in 1970 in Dharamsala, in the presence of the 14th Dalai Lama and has approximately 30,000 Tibetan exiles who are members of 81 regional groups in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Norway, Canada, France, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and the USA. Even the Swiss Tibetan Youth Association in Europe is part of the Tibetan Youth Congress, Tsewang Rigzin is president of the TYC.

The Chinese government called the TYC among others during the Tibetan unrest in 2008 as a terrorist organization. The members of the TYC are required by the statute of the organization to fight and risk their life for a complete independence of Tibet. Tsewang Rigzin, the president of the organization, completed in 2008 in an interview with the Corriere della Sera for the future the possibility of suicide bombings is not enough.

The TYC denied the terrorism allegations.
