Ticao Island

The island of Ticao lies in the Sibuyan Sea and is - in addition to Masbate and Burias - one of the three main islands of the Philippine province of Masbate.
Covering an area of 332 km ² lived to the last census ( 2000) 72,900 inhabitants.
To the south is the island of Masbate, in the north - behind the Ticao Passage - the southeastern part of Luzon.
In June and July 1646 the Port of San Jacinto was besieged by a fleet of seven Dutch galleons and 16 barges. There was an interlude between the first and second of the five naval battles of La Naval de Manila, in the Netherlands tried to conquer the Philippines
