Tie (draw)

A draw (even a tie or draw) is one of equality in a race or ball game between two opponents.

The term is mainly used for the final conclusion of the regular competition unit in sport ( game, match, match ). If the rules and the Discharge (as in a tournament ) may end in a draw permit a game, in other cases, as in the knockout system a game is decided by additional measures such as a prolonged play time or penalty kicks.

Sports reporter use the term often also for the intermediate level.

Basketball

A draw is rare in basketball because of the rapid playing style and the high score. The rules provide that the game is extended again and again until there is a winner. There are exceptions, however.

Cricket

In cricket, a distinction between draw and draw. Only case of a tie the teams and simultaneous conclusion of the game is called a draw (English tie). This therefore corresponds to the draw, as we know it from football. But if the game time has expired, without any of the teams could meet the victory condition, this is called draw ( engl. draw). This corresponds to a draw in chess, where also often despite advantages for one side of victory can not be enforced.

Football

Chess

In chess, the terms draw and draw are equal. A stalemate in which no other game development is no longer possible, the game ended permanently. The two players can agree on a draw when they foresee an equal skill level without hope of profit. Since, however, is not necessarily assumed equal points to draw may also differ fundamentally from the draw.
