Geographical Location
Tiefenbach is located in the region of Regensburg in the " Dreiwäldereck " Bavarian Forest, Bohemian Forest and the Upper Palatinate Forest.

There are the old districts Schneeberg, Breitenried, Hannes Ried, Irlach, Katzelsried, Schönau, Steinlohe and Tiefenbach. The district Steinlohe divides the community Tiefenbach to the southeast, neighboring municipality Treffelstein.
History
Tiefenbach was domination of the Baron of Reisach. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and the seat of the closed Hofmark. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. see also Postal Old Schneeberg
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Breitenried was incorporated. On July 1, 1972 Old Schneeberg, Hannes Ried and Irlach came (all previously in the district Oberviechtach ) was added, and parts of the community Steinlohe. The main part of the dissolved municipality Schönau followed on 1 July 1974. On 1 May in 1978 was added Katzelsried

Coat of arms
Blazon: On a silver shield head, in a blue wave bar over Silver Three mountain seven times diagonally divided red and silver. The emblem has been used since 1975.

- Farm Hüttenhof in Schönau: two-storey Halbwalmdachbau in 1600 and sheep barn with hayloft, traufständiger Satteldachbau Blockbaukniestock, probably 19th century

Economy, agriculture and forestry
There were according to official statistics in 1998 in the field of agriculture and forestry seven, in the production sector 84 and 22 social insurance in trade and transport workers at the workplace. In other areas, were employed to social security at the workplace 63 people. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 653 in the manufacturing sector, there were two, three companies in the construction industry. In addition, in 1999, there were 103 farms with an agricultural area of 1741 hectares. Of these, 817 hectares of arable land and 921 acres of meadowland.
