Tien (TV channel)

Tien (formerly Talpa ) was the name of a commercial television station in the Netherlands. She was part of Talpa Media Holding.

The name " Talpa " is the Latin word for mole, mole in Dutch, which refers to the last name of the founder John de Mol. Talpa was officially opened on 13 August 2005. He sent initially only in the evening and shared the channel with Nickelodeon. On 16 December 2000, the station was renamed " Tien " and expanded its program to 24 hours out.

After an introduction by John de Mol at RTL Nederland Tien went on in the new RTL 8 on 18 August 2007.
