Tiger Okoshi

Toru "Tiger" Okoshi ( born March 21, 1950 in Ashita, Japan) is an American jazz trumpeter Japanese origin.

Okoshi played since the age of thirteen as a self-taught jazz trumpet. After studying economics at Kwansei Gakuin University, he came in 1972 in the United States. Here he joined in 1975 to study at the Berklee College of Music summa cum laude.

Okoshi was known as the partner of Gary Burton. In 1974, he joined with the Mike Gibbs Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. The following year, he toured with the Buddy Rich Orchestra by the United States. In the early 1990s he worked with Lorraine Desmarais and George Russell's Living Time Orchestra and recorded with Bob Moses. With the Tigers Baku own band he recorded several albums, including Echoes of a Note ( A Tribute to Louis Armstrong ). Okoshi is a professor at Berklee College of Music.
