Tihomir of Serbia

Tihomir ruled as Serbian Großžupan about Raszien, Dioklitien and coastal countries Hum and Travunien (now Herzegovina) in the period 1165-1167.

After the insurgent Desa was deposed by Byzantium Byzantium divided his kingdom among the four sons of Zavida on:

  • Tihomir in Raszien,
  • Stracimir in Dioklitien ( Duklja )
  • Miroslav in the coastal countries and
  • Nemanja in Toplica in present-day Central Serbia.

Also Tihomir leaned now against Byzantium, and was assisted by his brother Stracimir. In contrast, Nemanja and Miroslav held to Byzantium. Nemanja defeated his two brothers with Byzantine support and became the sole ruler of Raszien and Dioklitien. Miroslav recognized as Großžupan Nemanja, and his descendants ruled as Župane in this day and Herzegovina by the end of the 13th century.
