Tiit Sokk

Tiit Sokk (* November 15, 1964 in Tartu, Estonian SSR ) is a retired Soviet and Estonian basketball player and current coach. He was in 1988 with the team of the Soviet Union Olympic champion.

Sports Performance

Tiit Sokk began in 1981 with the competitive sports. He was then transported by his father, the basketball player August Sokk. He won the gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 with the national basketball team of the USSR. At the World Championships in 1986 and 1990 Sokk won the silver medal. With the Tallinn Kalev team he was 1991 Soviet masters. In 1988 he was voted the best athlete of the Estonian SSR.

From 1992 to 1996 Sokk played for Panathinaikos Athens, 1996/97 at Aris Thessaloniki. In Greece, it was 1993 and 1996 Cup Winners' Cup and in 1993, 1995 and 1996 runner-up.

In 1997, Sokk in the Estonian capital of his own basketball school. A year later he became coach of the club Dalkia / Nybit. From 2004 to 2007, and since 2009 he coached the Estonian national basketball team.

Tiit Sokks sons Tanel and Sten - Timmu are also professional basketball player.

During his time at Panathinaikos Athens Sokk received, under the name of " Tout Giannopoulos ", the Greek nationality.
