Tijani Babangida

Tijani Babangida ( born September 25, 1973 in Kaduna ) is a former Nigerian football player.

Career

Babangida came with 17 years in the Netherlands and has been contracted by Roda JC Kerkrade. After the winger spent on loan at VVV Venlo and a half years, Babangida played for Roda and was one of the most celebrated regular players of the club. He was engaged by the giants Ajax Amsterdam, but lost his place gradually and was loaned out to various clubs. After he was not considered for the Football World Cup 2002, he wrote in 2002 a six-month loan contract with Al -Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, but he left the team in November after disagreements with the coach. As reported, he moved to China to play there for Changchun Yatai.

He played 40 international matches and scored five goals for the Nigerian national football team and played in the Football World Cup 1998, in which he scored in the course of one of the goals of the tournament with a thunderous volley from the right side. He also won the Olympic gold medal in 1996.

Others

Two of his nine brothers, Ibrahim Babangida Haruna Babangida and are also professional football players.
