Tikei

Tikei is an upscale Atoll in the South Pacific. It is one of the Îles du Roi Georges, a small group of islands in the northwest of the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia. Administratively Tikei belongs to the municipality Takaroa - Takapoto.

Located in a slightly isolated position 4 km ² large island is one of four coral islands (together with other 74 atolls ) of the Tuamotus.

Tikei was discovered in 1722 by Jacob Roggeveen. In the meantime, she received from Otto von Kotzebue 's name Romanzowinsel.

The island is uninhabited, but is occasionally visited by the inhabitants of the neighboring islands for fishing or collecting crabs.
