Tillman County, Oklahoma

Tillman County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Frederick.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Oklahoma, in the south as Texas and has an area of ​​2277 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kiowa County, Comanche County, Cotton County, Wichita County ( Texas), Wilbarger County ( Texas) and Jackson County.

History

Tillman County was formed on 16 July 1907 as the original County of Comanche country. It was named after Benjamin Ryan Tillman, a U.S. Senator for South Carolina. The County was settled by white settlers after an official land lottery on 1 August 1901.
