Tillman Thomas

Tillman Thomas ( born June 13, 1945 in Hermitage, Grenada ) is a politician in Grenada and Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC ).

Career

Under Maurice Bishop Thomas was imprisoned for two years. He was one of the founders of the NDC in 1987 and was until 1990 Vice-Chairman, since 2000 he is chairman of the party. 1984-1990 and 2003-2013 he was a deputy. 1984-1990 he was a junior minister in the Ministry of Justice, then to 1999, Junior Minister in the Ministry of Labour, Minister thereafter until 2003 for public works and tourism. After the victory of the NDC in the parliamentary elections of July 8, 2008, he became Prime Minister on 9 July 2008. On May 17, 2012, he also assumed the office of Foreign Minister. After the electoral defeat of his party on 19 February 2013, was replaced on February 20, 2013 by Keith Claudius Mitchell both offices of the New National Party ( NNP).
