Tim Borowski ( born 2 May 1980 in Neubrandenburg ) is a former German football player.

Career as a player

Clubs

Borowski began playing football in 1985 at his hometown club BSG Post Neubrandenburg. At the age of 16, he joined in 1996 in the youth of Werder Bremen and was founded in 1999 with the A- youth champion. Outgrown adolescence he was appointed to the amateur team, in which he was able to establish itself as a regular player, which a year later the appointment brought him into the professional squad.

His breakthrough Borowski in the 2003/04 season, at the end he was with the team German league and cup; for Cup success, he contributed substantially with two goals.

Borowski was coined by Johan Micoud and its style of play. After his departure, he took a supporting role in the midfield of Werder Bremen. Due to numerous injuries but Borowski was unable to repeat his performance from the previous season in the 2006/07 season.

In summer 2008, Borowski joined free transfer to league rivals Bayern Munich. On September 20, 2008 ( 5th Round ) suffered the Bavarians against his former club, the worst home defeat in 29 years. In the 2:5 defeat he scored after coming on the two goals for Munich. Overall, he came off the bench during the season 20 times and did not come beyond the reserve player. Since he no longer played a role in the plans of new coach Louis van Gaal, Borowski returned after just one season for FC Bayern Munich in the summer of 2009 back to Bremen. On 22 July 2009 he signed a contract at Werder until 2012 with an option for another year.

On 26 April 2012, the club announced that Borowski get a new contract and therefore Werder will leave at end of season, so he gave his farewell match 04 for Bremer May 5, 2012 against FC Schalke.

Persistent problems in his right ankle caused Borowski on September 19, 2012 to give his career end known as a footballer.

National

His international debut was Borowski in 2002 in the match against Bulgaria when he came on in the 79th minute. In the following years, Borowski has established itself in the national team and was also nominated for the FIFA World Cup 2006, in which he played six of the seven games. 2008 Borowski was appointed by national coach Joachim Loew in the German squad for the 2008 European Football Championship, in Borowski was used in two of six games. The appearance in the quarter-final against Portugal ( 3-2 ) was his 33rd and last game for the DFB.

Career as a functionary

Following his career as a professional footballer Borowski is after months break from 14 January 2013 in Werder Bremen assist as " Management Trainee " particularly evident in the areas of marketing and scouting the manager Klaus Filbry.
