Tim Brent

Tim Brent ( born March 10, 1984 in Cambridge, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since October 2013.

Career

Tim Brent began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors, for by 2004 he was active from 2000 in the Ontario Hockey League. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the second round than a total of 37 players from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. As this did not take him in the next two years under contract, he could be drafted again in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004, where he chose the Mighty Ducks in the third round as 75th player again. After being in the first two years in Anaheim exclusively for their farm team of the American Hockey League, which stood Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and Portland Pirates on the ice, Brent was in the 2006/07 season his debut for the now renamed Anaheim Ducks franchise, with whom he won the Stanley Cup. However, since he does not have enough games played, his name is not engraved on the trophy itself.

On June 23, 2007 Anaheim gave the Center in exchange for Stephen Dixon of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but for which he completed only one NHL game. The rest of the season, he played for the Pittsburgh AHL farm team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, with whom he lost the final to the Chicago Wolves to the Calder Cup. After the season Brent was issued in exchange for Danny Richmond to the Chicago Blackhawks, for which he also played just two games in the 2008/ 09 season and was instead used mainly by the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. On 6 July 2009, Tim Brent signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his first season he came only to use one for the Maple Leafs in the NHL since Brent had to struggle with injury problems. The rest of the season he spent with the Toronto Marlies and showed good performance, so he was admitted to the 2010/11 season back in the NHL squad. On 1 July 2011, Brent signed a contract for two years with the Carolina Hurricanes. For the Hurricanes, he completed a total of 109 NHL games in which he collected 27 points scorer.

In July 2013 Brent signed a contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League. After 18 appearances for Torpedo, the management of the club, Brent decided against Justin Hodgman from Metallurg Magnitogorsk exchange.
