Tim Lobinger

Tim Lobinger ( born September 3, 1972 in the Rhine river ) is a former German pole vaulter and current athletics coach of the football club RB Leipzig.

Sporting career

Since the late 1990s, he is one of the best pole vaulters in Germany. His strongest season performances he achieved in 1997 and 1999, when he became the first German outdoor 6.00 meters jumped over (ASV - sports festival in Cologne, Stadion Cologne - Muengersdorf ).

His greatest successes are the two European Championship medals. At the European Championships in Munich in 2002, he won bronze at the European Championships 2006 in Gothenburg, he won silver. He also won at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow in 2006.

Olympic Games, however, proceeded rather disappointing for Lobinger. In Atlanta in 1996, he finished seventh, 2000 in Sydney, he came on the thirteenth and in Athens in 2004 to eleventh place. In Beijing in 2008 he had already failed in qualifying.

In World Athletics Championships Lobinger failed to win a medal: 1993 in Stuttgart he left in qualifying, 1995 in Gothenburg, he finished eleventh, 1997 in Athens, fourth, and in Seville, sixth, 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis and 2005 in Helsinki Fifth 1999 2007 in Osaka eighth.

Lobinger was married from 1994 to 2003 with the former triple jumper Petra Lobinger (born Laux ). The couple had two children. In August 2011 Lobinger married in Bad Wiessee television presenter Alina Baumann (now Alina Lobinger ). With his wife and son Tyger he has resided since September 2013 in Leipzig.
