Tim McIlrath

Timothy " Tim " James McIlrath ( born November 3, 1979 in Arlington Heights, Illinois) is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the American punk / melodic hardcore band Rise Against.

Life

McIlraths musical career began in 1995 at the post - hardcore band Baxter, which he founded with Geoff Reu and the future drummer of The Lawrence Arms, Neil Hennessy. The first album named Troy 's Bucket they recorded on tape and published it in 1996 in the self-publishing. Baxter went with various bands like Good Riddance, Hot Water Music, slapstick and Alkaline Trio on tour. In 1997, the EP was released, entitled Lost Voices in Static Station Records. After another tour, the band split. McIlrath was then bassist for the metalcore band Arma Angelus, which was spearheaded by today's Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. After the release of the album The Grave End of the Shovel he left the band. In the punk band The Honor System, he worked in 2000 at four songs from the cassette single file as a bassist with.

In 1999 he founded together with Joe Principe, Dan Wlekinski and Toni Tintari Transistor Revolt, which later renamed to Rise Against. McIlrath is the sole author of all tracks by Rise Against. He is active in addition to Rise Against also in the band The Killing Tree. McIlrath is vegan and frequently participates in actions of PETA.
