Tim Thomas (basketball)

Timothy Mark Thomas ( born February 26, 1977 in Paterson, New Jersey ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Most recently, he played for the Dallas Mavericks.

High School

In his senior year ( 1995/96 ) on the Paterson Catholic High School Paterson Thomas reached an average of 25.3 points and 14.5 rebounds per game and was named team in the McDonald 's All- American.

College

After his first year at Villanova University, he signed up for the draft. He was selected in 1997 as the seventh player from the New Jersey Nets, but immediately to the Philadelphia 76ers, for their draft pick Keith Van Horn, transferred.

National Basketball Association

In his first NBA season Thomas was appointed to the NBA All- Rookie Second Team. In 1999, Thomas to the Milwaukee Bucks, where his teammate Ray Allen said of him that he could be one of the best players in the league when he want. This statement reflected also reflect the widespread opinion in NBA circles, Thomas 'm not enough of his talent. After the NBA 2001/ 02 Thomas received a six-year contract with the Bucks.

On 13 July 2006 Thomas signed a four -year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he, however, could not connect to be attained in Phoenix level and where he was again transferred on 21 November 2008 to the New York Knicks.

On February 19, 2009, Thomas moved along with Jerome James and Anthony Roberson in exchange for Larry Hughes to the Chicago Bulls.

On 14 July 2009 was Tim Thomas from continuing with the Chicago Bulls contract, which ran for a year and would have made Thomas $ 6.5 million in salary, bought out.

On 28 July 2009 he signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks a one year contract. On 18 August 2010 he signed with the Mavs for another year. However, he will not play for the Mavs in the next season.
