Tim Winton

Timothy John Winton (* August 4, 1960 in Perth, Western Australia ) is an Australian writer.

Life

Winton was born in Western Australia, where he still lives with his wife and three children today. He took a course in creative writing at Curtin University in Perth. At age 21, he won his first literary prize, and lived from then on as a freelance writer.

He wrote numerous novels, nonfiction and children's books and has received several awards, among others listed four times the Miles Franklin Award and the Commonwealth Writers Prize and was twice shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Several works are also available in German translation. Was published in 2004 The Singing Tree (Dirt Music ), 2008 Breath ( Breath ), 2007 stories appeared Wide World.
