Timi Yuro
Timi Yuro ( born Rosemary Timothy Yuro, August 4, 1940 * in Chicago, Illinois, † March 30, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American soul and rhythm and blues singer.
Life
With her family Yuro in 1952 moved to Los Angeles. There she sang in Italian local of their parents and in small clubs where she was discovered by talent scouts.
After she had in 1959 signed a recording contract with Liberty Records, their first Billboard hit single in 1961 Hurt listed at # 4, a cover version of the R & B ballad by Roy Hamilton. Both here and in the sequel to 1962 What's a Matter Baby ( Is It Hurting You), which rose to 12th place, Yuro showed their strong vocal expressiveness reminiscent of Dinah Washington and other black singers. Because of this, kept many fans in the early 1960s, Yuro for blacks.
In 1961 she toured with Frank Sinatra as the opening act for the tour of Australia.
Between 1961 and 1965 she produced with Clyde Otis eleven Top 100 singles. 1963 Liberty released Make the World Go Away, an album of country and blues standards. Having reached the peak of her vocal intonation, contains this album next to the title song of the same name, among other things, a cover version of Willie Nelson's Permanently Lonely and two different recordings of the Blue song I'm Movin 'On.
Also known Yuro was for expressive cover versions of American standards such as Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Smile and I Apologize.
End of the 60's Yuro toured between London and Las Vegas, however the career had passed its first climax. It ended after their wedding in 1969.
While a 1980 comeback attempt started and had already put together a 14 -piece band, she suddenly got acute laryngeal problems. After six month break she took on All Alone Am I, released in Europe in 1981 and was a huge success. In 1982, she took two consecutive weeks on their show in Las Vegas.
In September 1981, she inspired more than 20,000 spectators in Rotterdam, when she appeared along with Olivia Newton -John and Art Garfunkel. She was again successful, took three more European tours and released three more albums, the last in 1984 Timi Yuro Sings Willie Nelson, produced by her old friend Nelson.
In the late 80s she was again vocal problems, it was throat cancer diagnosed in 2002 her larynx was removed. They lived in seclusion and died in 2004.
Yuro still has many fans. Gives you the obituary in her local newspaper, the Las Vegas Sun, faith, it was one of their biggest Elvis Presley. He had the 1976 with his version of hurt a Top 10 hit on the country charts.
In April 2004, Morrissey announced officially their death on its website, calling it there as his favorite singer. In 1995 he released a version of its title Interlude.
PJ Proby Timi Yuro knew from their time together in Hollywood and this is mentioned often when he sang in his shows Hurt.
