Timimoun

Province

Timimoun (Arabic تميمون ) is an oasis city in the Algerian province of Adrar. It is located in the Western Erg large, on the edge of the plateau of Tademait, on any of those in North Africa Sabcha salt lakes. Timimoun is known for its ocher- red color of its buildings and has its own airport.

Timimoun is divided into an old and a newer city. The old part is Ksour ( village or castle ) called, probably by virtue of Ksar an old Berber fortress for. The newer part was built by the former French colonial Algeria 1926.
