Timmy Thomas

Timmy Thomas ( born November 13, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana) is an American R & B singer, keyboard player, composer and music producer. His most famous hit is Why Can not We Live Together by 1972.

Life

Thomas began his musical career as a sideman Donald Byrd and Cannonball Adderley, before he became a session musician to Memphis, Tennessee, went. His first solo success was Why Can not We Live Together, the 1973 No. 1 R & B Charts.

Until 1984, followed by several more hits, including People Are Changin '. Thomas continued to work as a session musician at TK Records, including Gwen McCrae for and Blowfly. In the 1990s, he was a producer for LaFace Records. In 1985, the singer Nicole McCloud, who had in Germany with Do not You Want My Love a Top 20 hit, the written by Timmy Thomas New York Eyes song together with him in the duet. As an organist Timmy Thomas is involved in the Joss Stone albums The Soul Sessions (2003) and Mind, Body & Soul ( 2004).

In the version of the British singer Sade Why Can not We Live Together was also popular from her 1984 debut album Diamond Life.
