Timna Brauer

Timna Brauer ( born May 1, 1961 in Vienna) is a singer and is also active in other artistic fields.

Biography

The daughter of the Austrian painter Arik Brauer and originating from Yemen Israeli studied piano and singing at the Conservatory in Vienna. She earned her doctorate at the Sorbonne on "The voice in jazz " and attended master classes of opera (including with Elisabeth Grummer ), in Indian singing and jazz singing ( at CIM in Paris). Since 1985 she performs with her ​​husband, pianist Elias Meiri, with the Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri Ensemble on.

1998 Timna Brauer played the "Jenny" in The Threepenny Opera with the " Ensemble Modern Frankfurt " (Record at BMG ), with whom she also appeared at the Schleswig -Holstein Music Festival. In 2001, she played Andrew Lloyd Webber's " Evita " in the summer lake stage Klagenfurt. 2002 to 2004 she was with the Palestinian-Israeli choral group " Voices for Peace " on tour in Europe, for the Meiri and brewers also arranged songs. Brauer also writes pieces for CDs with songs for children.

Since 1995 she teaches jazz singing at the University of Vienna.

2004 created Timna Brauer for Telekom Austria in Linz Cloud of Sound children 's musical fairy tale " The enthusiastic drums ".

1986 Timna Brauer was the Austrian participant at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Norway. She arrived there with the song Time is lonely 18 and thus the third last place. In the 3rd season of the Austrian Dancing with the Stars, starting on 9 March 2007, she participated, but resigned after the first evening out.
