Timo Hildebrand ( 2009)

Timo Hildebrand ( born April 5, 1979 in Worms ) is a German football goalkeeper who is under contract with FC Schalke 04 since 21 October 2011.

Association

Youth

Hildebrand played for ten years in the youth from the FV Hofheim. At 15, he got the first offers of professional football clubs, including from Cologne, Darmstadt and Mannheim.

VfB Stuttgart

He opted for VfB Stuttgart and was a member of the club between 1994 and 2007. With Stuttgart he was in season 2002/ 03 runners-up, reaching the direct qualification for the Champions League. Over the two seasons 2002/ 03 and 2003/ 04 away remained Hildebrand 884 minutes without conceding Bundesliga and thus broke the Bundesliga record of Oliver Kahn.

FC Valencia

In Spain, Valencia coach Quique Sánchez Flores decided at the beginning of the season 2007/ 08 for Santiago Cañizares as a goalkeeper. After Hildebrand had established himself as first-choice goalkeeper at Valencia, he has already won in his first season in Spain, Copa del Rey, the Spanish Cup competition. In May 2002, Hildebrand was nominated for the preliminary squad of the German national team for the 2002 World Cup. He sat in the warm-up match against Kuwait (7:0) on the bench.
