Timo Hildebrand ( 2009)
Timo Hildebrand ( born April 5, 1979 in Worms ) is a German football goalkeeper who is under contract with FC Schalke 04 since 21 October 2011.
Association
Youth
Hildebrand played for ten years in the youth from the FV Hofheim. At 15, he got the first offers of professional football clubs, including from Cologne, Darmstadt and Mannheim.
VfB Stuttgart
He opted for VfB Stuttgart and was a member of the club between 1994 and 2007. With Stuttgart he was in season 2002/ 03 runners-up, reaching the direct qualification for the Champions League. Over the two seasons 2002/ 03 and 2003/ 04 away remained Hildebrand 884 minutes without conceding Bundesliga and thus broke the Bundesliga record of Oliver Kahn.
On 19 December 2006, the VfB Stuttgart withdrew an offer for extension of Hildebrand in June 2007 expiring contract after Hildebrand had not been willing to decide at this time. In this final season at VfB Hildebrand won in the 2006/07 season as vice-captain of the German Championship and was in the DFB Cup final. On 4 July 2007 he was finally presented as a new player at FC Valencia.
FC Valencia
In Spain, Valencia coach Quique Sánchez Flores decided at the beginning of the season 2007/ 08 for Santiago Cañizares as a goalkeeper. In the first qualifying first leg Champions League Hildebrand sat thus on the bench, which was considered in the context in Valencia as a precedent. In September, he was, however, used in league play at Real Betis and since then has been in most league games under Quique Sánchez Flores in goal. When Ronald Koeman on 31 October 2007 took over the post of Flores, he sat again in the meantime on Cañizares as goalkeeper, who was also in the box, as Hildebrand was not operational because of a back injury. This changed, however, when Koeman decided due to the sporting failures of Valencia in December 2007, Cañizares to suspend ( alongside David Albelda and Miguel Angulo ).
After Hildebrand had established himself as first-choice goalkeeper at Valencia, he has already won in his first season in Spain, Copa del Rey, the Spanish Cup competition. Here, Valencia Nou and a 3-2 set in the semifinals after a 1-1 draw at home by the camp against Barcelona. After the 1-1 draw in the first leg Hildebrand was celebrated by the Spanish media unanimously as man of the match. In a brilliant save statistics of the Spanish newspaper Marca Hildebrand broke while the Spanish season record of league and cup with fourteen brilliant saves in a game. In the cup final Hildebrand won with Valencia on 16 April 2008 against Getafe 3-1.
Valencia coach Ronald Koeman was discharged five days after the Cup victory; the new coach Voro sat Hildebrand competitors Cañizares again, but stated that Hildebrand will remain first-choice goalkeeper.
For the season 2008/ 09 a new coach for Valencia Unai Emery has been committed with again. It was also Renan Brito, Brazilian football goalkeeper, brought to Valencia, which should compete with Hildebrand. As this was at the beginning of the season with the Brazilian national team at the Olympics, Hildebrand was not exposed to the same from the beginning to the new rivals and stood in both finals of the Spanish Super Cup goal. However, he was expelled after Renan's arrival in Valencia as number three on the stand and had to attend the games of his team as a spectator.
November 28, 2008 Hildebrand finally got the release by his club to switch to the exchange period in January 2009, free transfer to a new club can. On 4 December 2008 the two sides agreed to a resolution of the contract.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
During the winter break of 2008/ 09 Hildebrand moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. In May 2012, Hildebrand's contract with FC Schalke 04 was extended by two years until the end of the 2013/14 season.
In preparing for the 2012/13 season he was named number one in the Schalke goal and stood in the DFB - Pokal match against 1 FC Saarbrücken, which ended 5-0 for Schalke goal. However, Hildebrand injured shortly after the first match and lost his starting place to Lars Unnerstall. His comeback he gave on 15 game against Borussia Mönchengladbach after Unnerstall had noticed in the last game by uncertainties. After Hildebrand had returned to the Schalke goal, he missed until the end of the season no longer a game.
At the beginning of the season 2013/14 Hildebrand was set as number 1. The first round began by growing for him. In twelve league games he conceded 23 goals, which he was, however, mostly innocent. On November 6, 2013, the program underwent at the Champions League group match against Chelsea a major mistake when he anschoss during an attempted kick Samuel Eto'o and the ball rolled into the goal for Chelsea to make it 1-0. This meant in the game the turn against the hitherto better playing Schalke team. At the end of Schalke lost 3-0. The action before the 1-0 sparked in the media a new goalkeeper debate, and Hildebrand had to take weeks of criticism.
While an injury he busied again, he was represented by the former number one Ralf ferryman. Ferryman convinced and displaced Hildebrand for the remaining first round games from the Schalke goal. On January 16, 2014 it was announced that Hildebrand's contract not renewed and he will thus leave the club at end of season.
National
In May 2002, Hildebrand was nominated for the preliminary squad of the German national team for the 2002 World Cup. He sat in the warm-up match against Kuwait (7:0) on the bench. The jump in the final squad, however he failed. Before the last preseason game against Austria, he traveled again. His debut in the national team but he gave until almost two years later, when he came in to replace Oliver Kahn on 28 April 2004 in the second half, the score of 0:4 (final score 1:5) in Bucharest against Romania.
Timo Hildebrand took the national team at the European Championships in Portugal in 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, arrived there but not used. At the Confederations Cup 2005, he stood against Argentina (2-2 ) in goal.
In the 2006 World Cup in Germany Hildebrand was the only player of the national team of Germany, came to no use. In the " small final " Oliver Kahn was preferred. His fifth international game he played in the 1-1 draw against Cyprus in Nicosia, this was also his first competitive game in the national team. Hildebrand graduated seven A- international matches. The last one took place against the Czech Republic in October 2007.
Hildebrand was not nominated for the 2008 European Championship in the DFB squad. In its place, Rene Adler and Robert Enke has been nominated as a substitute goalkeeper.
