Timo Wenzel

Timo Wenzel ( born November 30, 1977 in Neu-Ulm/Burlafingen ) is a German football player.

Career

Clubs

He began his career at FC Burlafingen. In 2000, he completed his first Bundesliga appearances for VfB Stuttgart. After a total of 65 Bundesliga appearances for the Swabians the defender moved to the winter break 2003/ 04 to the then relegation 1.FC Kaiserslautern. Wenzel could help to keep the class in spite of point deduction. After the descent 2006, the second division team FC Augsburg was his new employer. 51 times he played in two years for the second division. On 28 April 2008 Timo Wenzel signed a contract until 2011 at Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus' first league. After three years he joined in August 2011 from the Cypriot vice-champion and cup winner from Nicosia to the Greek first division AO Kerkyra. The contract of the defender ran until 2013, but he moved in summer 2012 back to Germany for SV 07 Elversberg in the Regionalliga West.

National

Wenzel played between 2002 and 2003 alongside players like Timo Hildebrand, Simon Jentzsch, Tim Borowski, Andreas Hinkel, Fabian Ernst and Kevin Kuranyi three times in the team in 2006, the perspective team of the DFB and previously in the A2 National Team, in which he also scored a goal.
