Timotheus (sculptor)

Timotheos ( ancient Greek Τιμόθεος ), possibly from Epidauros, was one of the most famous Greek sculptor and lived in the 4th century BC

Because of his skills and fame he was commissioned in the year 350 BC, Artemisia II, the wife of the Persian satrap Mausolus II, together with Bryaxis, Leochares and Scopas, one each side of the huge tomb of her husband (which according to him named Mausoleum of Halicarnassus ) - to adorn with statues and friezes, which was included in the list of the Seven wonders of the World soon. He was responsible for the south side. To 380 BC he was the driving sculptor of Asclepius temple in Epidauros. For information about his life is not known.
