Tincture

A tincture (Latin tincture, coloring, abbreviation Tct. , Or tincture. ) Is an extract prepared by maceration or percolation from vegetable or animal raw materials, using as extractant (usually 70% ) of ethanol (alcohol ), but also aether, alcohol aethereus, acetone, or water may be used.

Sometimes, but also alcoholic solutions of other raw materials such as, for example, referred to as iodine tincture, in this case as tincture of iodine.

Tinctures, in which only one plant or a chemical substance such as iodine ( iodine) was dissolved, in the jargon as a tincture simplex ( simple tincture ) referred to in more dissolved substances, however, as a tincture composita (compound tincture ).
