Tintin (magazine)

Tintin was a traditional, Belgian comic magazine in which many classic Franco- Belgian series have appeared next to the eponymous series. Much of this series are specially created for the magazine.

Publication history

The beginnings

The success of Hergé's Tintin comic series suggested the idea to give the series with a magazine own publishing platform. Initiator was the publicist and Resistance fighter Raymond Leblanc, who started such a magazine along with Hergé. The first issue of Tintin was released on 26 September 1946 in an edition of 40,000 copies. Entitled Tintin there was from the outset a Dutch version for the Flemish part of Belgium ( Edition of # 1: 20,000 copies ). The issue was at the beginning of 12 pages, including 5 pages of comic books (Already with Issue 13 of 19 December 1946, the scope was expanded to 16 pages).

Tintin was published weekly, each with two sides Tintin, comics and other selected reports. 1946 published 13 other books. Early in 1947 the numbering was so changed that started with each new year new counting with number 1, so that the published in 1947 numbered 15 and 16, which still continued to count the first 14 editions of the previous year, the number 3/1947 followed.

On October 28, 1948 in parallel with the Belgian edition launched a French edition, which was numbered as opposed to the ' original edition ' continuously. This French edition took place some changes, title changes and renumber, which documented the tendency to form an opposite of the Belgian edition independent magazine. So first appeared until 4 January 1973 issues of the 1262 Edition Française, followed by 140 issues Tintin L' Hebdoptimiste.

The wedding of the magazine

On September 16, 1975, launched under the title Nouveau Tintin again a 'new' French edition, which was referred to both number 1 and number with 141 continues to apply numbering of the previous edition. On 30 May 1978, with the number 142 ( number 282 of the old counting method ), the last independent French Tintin book: From number 143 - the Belgian edition had now switched to running count - there was only a French-speaking Tintin, which until 29 November 1988 ( number 690 ) was published.

The decline

With Tintin Reporter launched on 9 December 1988, the short-lived successor (34 issues till 28 July 1989 ), the Hello Bédé (197 issues from September 1989 to June 1993 ) was replaced. After Pilote was already set in 1989, was left after the last number of Hello Bédé Spirou alone as the last of the three major Franco- Belgian comic magazines.
