Tippecanoe County, Indiana

Tippecanoe County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lafayette.

Geography

The County is located in the middle of Northwest Indiana, is located in the west about 60 miles from Illinois and has an area of 1303 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: White County, Carroll County, Clinton County, Montgomery County, Fountain County, Warren County and Benton County.

History

Tippecanoe County was formed on January 20, 1826 from parts of Parke County and free territory. It was named after the Battle of Tippecanoe, which took place in 1811.
