Tipsport Arena in the Czech town of Liberec is a multi-purpose arena that seats up to 9,000 spectators.

History

The idea to build a multi-purpose arena was covered by the city government Liberecs long time. Again and again we heard rumors of the construction, but the construction continued.

There were many reasons for the whole sports complex new or rebuild, as the then state of the whole area, which included several turf playground, athletics stadium, tennis courts and a bowling alley, a required tag.

In September 2003, the City Council decided that the whole project was feasible and highly beneficial to the city as a result of strategy development and revitalization of the tourist traffic, was then started on 5 September 2003 with the construction. Completion of the arena was on 23 June 2005.

On 8 September 2005, the Liberec multifunctional arena was opened. It offers different depending on the sport a large capacity. When playing hockey or basketball games up to 7,500 spectators place.

On 18 February 2009, the opening of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 took place in the Tipsport Arena. Then the band Deep Purple gave a concert in the hall.

Use

Tipsport Arena is used in each of the ice hockey team from Liberec Bili Tygri and from the basketball team from BK Kondori Liberec, which discharge their home games here.

In addition, concerts are held at regular intervals here.

From 20 to 25 June 2011, the Table Tennis European Championship will take place in the Tipsport Arena and four other surrounding buildings, is expected to attract more than 2,100 male and female players from all over Europe.
