Tirrenia

The seaside resort of Tirrenia is a district of Pisa in the same Tuscan province. Nestled in the pine forest of the littoral Pisano and the Ligurian Sea ( even though the name on Mar Tirreno refers ), Tirrenia is situated in the middle of the Tuscan coast. Located between Marina di Pisa and Calambrone Tirrenia is an important destination for tourism with its 10 km long beach. This is especially true because of the many bars for young people.

The city was founded in the time of the Fascist regime. Benito Mussolini did this once marshy city, "Pearl of the Mediterranean" converted into which, as he put it. Many architects from all over Italy built orphan centers and homes for the rich. 1932 a railway line was opened on Tirrenia Pisa to Livorno, which stood until September 15, 1960 in operation. In the 1930s, was built for propaganda purposes la Pisorno. In today's time, built by Mussolini for orphans colonies to be rebuilt, which were abandoned after the Second World War. They are to be used in the future for tourists.

At the southern end of the village is onlus the holiday center for the blind and visually impaired by the Italian Blind and Visually Impaired.

Every Tuesday in the center of the church is a large market place.
