Thiazolgelb, also titanium yellow, yellow- brown dye is one which belongs to the group of triazenes and is used as a fluorescent indicator, acid - base indicator and as a reagent for magnesium.
The metal titanium is not contained in the substance ( see, however, titanium white).
Properties
At a pH value of 12.0 to 13.0, the yellow turns into a red (or Brown ).
Use
The dye is a fluorescent indicator in microscopic staining and reagent for magnesium - proof (light red precipitate ) used in body fluids, and also as a pH indicator. Nickel, zinc, manganese and cobalt ions also yield colored solutions and optionally disrupt the detection of magnesium.
